Storyline of Book 1: UNCONQUERED
Victoria Solana is a small-town girl at the cusp of adulthood. She was adopted from China when she was a baby. An accident turns her calm and quiet life topsy-turvy. With two gunmen and a one-eyed stalker in close pursuit, the young woman takes a dangerous journey to China to learn the truth about herself. Victoria discovers that her mother was the favourite commander of a warrior queen during the first dynasty of China and her father was the founder of a northern nomadic tribe which eventually conquered China. The three of them are separated from each other by thousands of years. Victoria also learns about a secret clan which has been intervening in pivotal historical events since ancient times. They believe in an oracle about a cataclysmic catastrophe. Victoria realizes that her existence is not an accident. The Apocalypse is at hand, and the secret clan believes that she is the long-awaited saviour. But Victoria has no idea how to be a superhero. She will discover whether she has the mettle to make the necessary sacrifice to save humankind. Unconquered is the first book of the trilogy Planet of Perpetual Peace, followed by Bellatrix: The Female Warrior, and Augenblick: The Blink of an Eye. This magical realism/science fiction/historical mystery is concocted in the spirit of Slaughterhouse-Five, Time Machine, Foundation, Dune, Da Vinci Code, and Dream of the Red Chamber, laced with tributes to Homer, Ovid, Dante, Cervantes, Shakespeare, Goethe, Carroll Lewis, and Confucius, and garnished with smatterings of humour, romance, and socio-economics. Why you should write reviews
Authors and their books need reviews to be discovered. Readers need reviews to find the books they want to read. Without reviews, great works of art will be buried in obscurity. Without reviews, the lions of literature will wither away into oblivion. Reviews are therefore the lifeblood that sustains creative writing, the art form that defines human civilization and the meaning of our very existence. Your review is of paramount importance, be it a one liner or a dissertation, and be its rating of the book good, mediocre, or bad. We welcome and appreciate your opinion. You may read and review the book by joining the mailing list. |
